Willyboys DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Jones Jr.. Final grade: B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Emery Jones Jr. slide 37 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Shavon Revel Jr.
In pick No. 21 they get a press-man option on the boundary. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick83
Rnd3
Tre Harris
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 83 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick123
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at the 123rd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick162
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Emery Jones Jr. reach Round 5, Pick 24 and blink. They did not. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick185
Rnd6
Cam Jackson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cam Jackson well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick229
Rnd7
Karene Reid
They barely believed it either: Karene Reid still on the board at No. 229. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245
Rnd7
Eric Gregory
They reached a country mile for Eric Gregory at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
