Overall C+

A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Lions get a C+.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Lions shredded theirs for Barryn Sorrell. He came off 181 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

The Mafah steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In pick 28 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at No. 60 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102 Rnd3 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at slot 102 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134 Rnd4 Barryn Sorrell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Barryn Sorrell in the 134th overall pick, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick196 Rnd6 Upton Stout
The board fumbled Upton Stout all the way to the 196th pick, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225 Rnd7 Collin Oliver
Collin Oliver at Round 7, Pick 9 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick228 Rnd7 Phil Mafah
Phil Mafah at No. 228 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick244 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam in the 244th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
