Willyboys DRAFTING FOR THEDolphins
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall

The Dolphins cashed the board's mistake on Taylor: B-. You could see the war room lean forward. Mason Taylor at the Round 7 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Every board in the league had Paige lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick48
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Milroe this early at Round 2, Pick 16. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick98
Rnd3
Tory Horton
They paid up for Tory Horton at pick No. 98 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick116
Rnd4
Brashard Smith
They did well to land Brashard Smith in the 116th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick135
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
They barely believed it either: Joshua Farmer still on the board at the 135th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick150
Rnd5
Makari Paige
Makari Paige at No. 150 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick155
Rnd5
Brandon Adams
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brandon Adams in slot 155, miles early. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick224
Rnd7
Mason Taylor
Taking Mason Taylor in pick 224 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick231
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
They robbed the room for Joshua Gray here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick253
Rnd7
Max Brosmer
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Max Brosmer well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick256
Rnd7
Jackson Woodard
Jackson Woodard in Round 7, Pick 40 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
