You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cowboys did exactly that with Peny Boone in pick No. 44. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

If Mason Graham and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
