Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Jaguars: B.

Somebody in the 182nd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jaguars sat still while Mitchell Evans, the No. 140 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

If Martin pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

They went 8 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a disruptive interior force. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
They left a pile of value on the table to take Azareye'h Thomas this early at the 36th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick70 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson slid further than he should have, and the 70th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Tai Felton
Tai Felton at the 88th pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick107 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. at pick 107 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at pick No. 126 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142 Rnd5 James Burnip
A reach for James Burnip in Round 5, Pick 4; a little patience would have been rewarded. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick182 Rnd6 Mitchell Evans
The board fumbled Mitchell Evans all the way to slot 182, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Ajani Cornelius in No. 194, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick221 Rnd7 Nick Martin
Value said wait; Nick Martin in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
