Willyboys DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Grand theft in the Round 4 slot: the Falcons steal Bech and grade out a B-. Call it larceny. Jack Bech sat on the board until the 118th overall pick, and the Falcons did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Sawyer left real value on the table behind him. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In the 15th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Value with a capital V on Omarion Hampton in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jack Bech
Steal is underselling it; Jack Bech at the 118th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick242
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
They paid a round early for Tonka Hemingway in pick No. 242, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
