The Bears did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Bears did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The Wohler pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

A straight-up fair deal on Will Campbell at the 10th pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick39 Rnd2 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in the 39th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick41 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
They paid sticker price for Xavier Watts in pick No. 41, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick72 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
A clean, defensible pick in pick 72 with a little surplus value in Tate Ratledge. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick148 Rnd5 Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick233 Rnd7 Hunter Wohler
The board had cheaper options than Hunter Wohler at slot 233, and it noticed. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick240 Rnd7 Marcus Yarns
They took Marcus Yarns at par in No. 240, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
