Willyboys DRAFTING FOR THELions
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Lions
Overall

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Lions a B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Lions started one anyway for Jared Ivey, 49 picks ahead of schedule. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Woodson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Jared Ivey
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
A slide stopped in the 60th pick, with Marcus Mbow worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Circle this one: Jayden Higgins at pick 102 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
A quiet steal in pick No. 134: Darius Alexander for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick196
Rnd6
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at Round 6, Pick 20 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick225
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Carson Vinson at No. 225. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick228
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jermari Harris in No. 228. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244
Rnd7
Craig Woodson
The board fumbled Craig Woodson all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
