Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Jaguars answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: B-.

The Jaguars spent real capital to be 87 picks early on Kai Kroeger, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Everything downstream of Cam Ward depends on Cam Ward, and the building knows it. Neal falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jahdae Barron
You do not let a cornerback like Jahdae Barron reach pick 36 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick70 Rnd3 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at the 70th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick88 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 88th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107 Rnd4 Vernon Broughton
Vernon Broughton at No. 107 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick126 Rnd4 Devin Neal
They will replay Devin Neal at slot 126 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick142 Rnd5 Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at slot 142 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kai Kroeger
They talked themselves into Kai Kroeger at No. 182, and the board did not agree. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in pick No. 194 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick221 Rnd7 Kyle Williams
They robbed the room for Kyle Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
