Draft Grade — Jets

FutureD+
The Jets drew a line under the quarterback search with Moore: D+. The Jets spent real capital to be 49 picks early on Harold Perkins Jr., and the board is going to hold them to it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Everything downstream of Dante Moore depends on Dante Moore, and the building knows it. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and safety is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Dante Moore
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick8
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In the 8th pick they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Harold Perkins Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Harold Perkins Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick70
Rnd3
Colton Hood
They paid sticker price for Colton Hood in the 70th overall pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105
Rnd4
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr. at pick No. 105 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106
Rnd4
Jadarian Price
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jadarian Price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick113
Rnd4
Xavier Scott
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Scott at the 113th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick122
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
A big swing on DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 122, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138
Rnd4
Drew Allar
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drew Allar in Round 4, Pick 38, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
