RF4916 DRAFTING FOR THERavens

Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Ravens. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Ravens did exactly that with Oluwafemi Oladejo in No. 91. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The Williams steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In No. 27 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. More want than need.
Pick59
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trey Amos at Round 2, Pick 27. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Oluwafemi Oladejo. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Circle this one: Savion Williams at slot 128 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick136
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
Somehow Hollin Pierce was still sitting there in the 136th overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at the 176th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick178
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
The board fumbled RJ Harvey all the way to the 178th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick185
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
The board had cheaper options than Jack Kiser at No. 185, and it noticed. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick205
Rnd6
CJ West
A conviction pick on CJ West at the 205th pick that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jalen Travis
A wild overpay on Jalen Travis in slot 213, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jaylin Lane
A big swing on Jaylin Lane at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
