Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Ravens a B-.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Ravens never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

Smith has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Greathouse pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Carter Smith
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45 Rnd2 Bray Hubbard
Bray Hubbard at pick 45 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick80 Rnd3 Teitum Tuioti
No drama and no debate, Teitum Tuioti went about where he belonged in the 80th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick115 Rnd4 Whit Weeks
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 15 with a little surplus value in Whit Weeks. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick152 Rnd5 DJ Lagway
DJ Lagway in pick No. 152 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick160 Rnd5 LJ Martin
LJ Martin in the 160th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick172 Rnd5 Jaden Greathouse
Value with a capital V on Jaden Greathouse in slot 172, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. at No. 173 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick249 Rnd7 Kaleb Jackson
Kaleb Jackson in the 249th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick252 Rnd7 Dezz Ricks
Dezz Ricks at pick 252 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
