Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B- to prove it.

The Patriots' one glaring miss is interior defensive lineman, a need they left exactly as they found it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They are betting Rhodes Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
In slot 30 they get juice off the edge, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62 Rnd2 Sheridan Wilson
No drama and no debate, Sheridan Wilson went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick94 Rnd3 Anthonie Knapp
Good price on Anthonie Knapp in the 94th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick125 Rnd4 Kade Pieper
Kade Pieper in No. 125 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick130 Rnd4 Anto Saka
By-the-book stuff, Anto Saka at Round 4, Pick 30 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick168 Rnd5 Dorian Thomas
They took Dorian Thomas at par in the 168th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jahiem White
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jahiem White. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick200 Rnd6 Gunner Stockton
They paid sticker price for Gunner Stockton in pick 200, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207 Rnd6 Brandon Inniss
Brandon Inniss at Round 6, Pick 28 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick209 Rnd6 Smith Snowden
A clean, defensible pick in the 209th pick with a little surplus value in Smith Snowden. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick246 Rnd7 Kamari Wilson
Kamari Wilson in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
