Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B+
ValueC-
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureA+
Iamaleava should have been long gone. The Ravens pounced, and earned a B+. Call it larceny. Nico Iamaleava sat on the board until slot 120, and the Ravens did not need to be asked twice.
Mesidor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Colby Parkinson deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
David Bailey
In the 18th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick22
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53
Rnd2
Jaeden Roberts
They talked themselves into Jaeden Roberts at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick72
Rnd3
Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard in the 72nd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick89
Rnd3
Anto Saka
A big swing on Anto Saka at pick 89, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107
Rnd4
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Kenyatta Jackson Jr. at No. 107, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick111
Rnd4
Boubacar Traore
A wild overpay on Boubacar Traore in pick No. 111, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick120
Rnd4
Nico Iamaleava
Taking Nico Iamaleava in slot 120 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick140
Rnd5
Justice Haynes
Justice Haynes at Round 5, Pick 1 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick145
Rnd5
Vincent Anthony Jr.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Vincent Anthony Jr. in the 145th pick, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick175
Rnd5
Tree Babalade
Tree Babalade at pick No. 175 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick176
Rnd5
Braylan Shelby
They reached into another round for Braylan Shelby, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick251
Rnd7
Akheem Mesidor
Value said wait; Akheem Mesidor in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
