Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Ravens.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Ravens did exactly that with Fadil Diggs in the Round 6 slot. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jonah Savaiinaea
In the 27th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in the 59th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
No drama and no debate, Darius Alexander went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick129 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong at Round 4, Pick 27 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick136 Rnd4 Brashard Smith
By-the-book stuff, Brashard Smith at No. 136 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick176 Rnd5 Jalen McLeod
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen McLeod this early at slot 176. It fills a real need, too.
Pick183 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
A tidy little value on Ajani Cornelius in the 183rd pick, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick203 Rnd6 Fadil Diggs
A wild overpay on Fadil Diggs in pick No. 203, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick210 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at slot 210 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick212 Rnd6 Tyler Batty
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tyler Batty in pick 212, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick243 Rnd7 LaJohntay Wester
They jumped the gun on LaJohntay Wester, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
