vickdawg22 DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns checked most of the boxes and earned a B. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Browns did exactly that with Quinn Carroll in the 255th pick. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The Henderson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In the 2nd pick they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart at pick 33 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in slot 67 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94
Rnd3
Savion Williams
A reasonable price with a little left over, Savion Williams in pick No. 94. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Quinn Ewers
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 2: Quinn Ewers for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick179
Rnd6
Ryan Fitzgerald
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ryan Fitzgerald in No. 179. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick192
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick200
Rnd6
Addison West
They liked Addison West enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 200. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick216
Rnd6
Luke Elzinga
No edge and no loss on Luke Elzinga in Round 6, Pick 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick255
Rnd7
Quinn Carroll
Quinn Carroll in slot 255 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
