Draft Grade — Vikings

FutureB
The Vikings lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Vikings took Max Brosmer at the 229th overall pick, roughly 72 spots before his name belonged.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Carter to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nice patience on Nick Emmanwori, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick52
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at No. 52 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick67
Rnd3
Xavier Restrepo
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Restrepo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick92
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at the 92nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
They jumped the gun on Jared Wilson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
Value with a capital V on Barrett Carter in pick No. 97, a genuine coup. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick139
Rnd5
Trevor Etienne
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trevor Etienne. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick187
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper in pick No. 187 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick206
Rnd6
Cody Lindenberg
Cody Lindenberg in slot 206 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick229
Rnd7
Max Brosmer
They reached a country mile for Max Brosmer at the 229th overall pick, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
