Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Giants answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: B-.

When a board-topper like Kalel Mullings slides to the 134th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Giants did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. If Morrison pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In No. 2 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
They went early on Derrick Harmon in pick 33, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick66 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild is a better player than the 66th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick102 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
Fair-plus on Danny Stutsman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick134 Rnd4 Kalel Mullings
Taking Kalel Mullings in slot 134 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the 217th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jake Slaughter
They barely believed it either: Jake Slaughter still on the board at Round 7, Pick 31. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
