Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Ravens, and a B- to prove it. There is reaching, and then there is Logan Fano at No. 162. The Ravens jumped the board by 79 and dared it to prove them wrong. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The Harvey pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 14 with a little surplus value in Makai Lemon. The roster fit checks out.
Pick45
Rnd2
Malachi Lawrence
They reached into another round for Malachi Lawrence, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80
Rnd3
Austin Barber
They left a pile of value on the table to take Austin Barber this early at the 80th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick115
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
A conviction pick on DeMonte Capehart at the 115th overall pick that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer at Round 5, Pick 14 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Logan Fano
Logan Fano in No. 162 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick173
Rnd5
Matt Gulbin
Matt Gulbin at pick No. 173 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick174
Rnd5
Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at No. 174 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick211
Rnd6
Eric O'Neill
Eric O'Neill at slot 211 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick250
Rnd7
DJ Harvey
DJ Harvey at pick 250 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick253
Rnd7
Fa'alili Fa'amoe
They did well to land Fa'alili Fa'amoe in the 253rd pick, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
