Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They are betting Nwankpa proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Styles steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick67 Rnd3 Drew Shelton
Drew Shelton at pick 67 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102 Rnd4 Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad in the 102nd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick117 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
A slide stopped in slot 117, with Michael Trigg worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick134 Rnd4 Chris McClellan
A straight-up fair deal on Chris McClellan at No. 134, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
They let Ar'maj Reed-Adams come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 35. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182 Rnd6 J'Mari Taylor
J'Mari Taylor in pick No. 182 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185 Rnd6 Harrison Wallace III
A reach for Harrison Wallace III in Round 6, Pick 4; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick208 Rnd6 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa in the 208th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick219 Rnd7 Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
