A respectable, level-headed haul for the Patriots: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 60 spots for George Gumbs Jr., and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Allen at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

In pick 31 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kamari Ramsey
A reach for Kamari Ramsey in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

A real head-scratcher, Caden Curry in pick No. 95 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

They jumped the gun on J.C. Davis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick131 Rnd4 Joe Royer
A tidy bit of business in the 131st pick, where Joe Royer graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

Cyrus Allen is a better player than slot 171 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
