Dawson DRAFTING FOR THEBuccaneers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Buccaneers: B-. The Buccaneers clearly saw something nobody else did in Jah Joyner, taking him 32 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Peebles to cover a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In pick 19 they get a sticky cover corner. A real need, handled.
Pick53
Rnd2
Bradyn Swinson
No drama and no debate, Bradyn Swinson went about where he belonged in slot 53. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick84
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jayden Higgins in pick No. 84. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jah Joyner
They reached a country mile for Jah Joyner at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick158
Rnd5
Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles in the 158th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick237
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaac TeSlaa at Round 7, Pick 19 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
