Dawson DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall

FutureB-
The Bills did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The war room fell hard for Chase Lundt, and it showed at the 131st overall pick: 30 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Strong at that price is a win they earned.
They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In pick 30 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders slipping to the 56th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick62
Rnd2
Zy Alexander
The board had cheaper options than Zy Alexander at slot 62, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick108
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
They paid sticker price for Smael Mondon Jr. in the 108th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131
Rnd4
Chase Lundt
A big swing on Chase Lundt at pick No. 131, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Ben Sauls
Nice patience on Ben Sauls, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at slot 175 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179
Rnd6
Dorian Strong
They read the board right and Dorian Strong was the payoff at pick 179. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at No. 206 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick208
Rnd6
Alijah Huzzie
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Alijah Huzzie in Round 6, Pick 30. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
