Draft Grade — Bears
Overall F
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureF
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: F.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. It bottoms out at a F.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. On value alone, Johnson makes the weekend a net positive.

A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In the 9th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jonathon Brooks
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jonathon Brooks in pick No. 67, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
A reasonable price with a little left over, Devontez Walker in the Round 3 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III is a better player than Round 4, Pick 22 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick155 Rnd5 Kalen King
Kalen King in slot 155 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick210 Rnd6 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon in pick 210 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick237 Rnd7 Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson at No. 237 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick238 Rnd7 Eric Watts
Eric Watts slipping to pick 238 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
