Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Steelers turned the phones into found money: B.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Caden Curry; the Steelers did not wait, grabbing him 56 spots ahead at pick No. 76. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Getting Haulcy where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Steelers paired the rookies with proven help, Quentin Johnston leading the way.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Monroe Freeling
In slot 22 they get an anchor for the offensive line. More want than need.
Pick53 Rnd2 Garrett Nussmeier
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Garrett Nussmeier well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76 Rnd3 Caden Curry
A real head-scratcher, Caden Curry in the 76th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick85 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
Steal is underselling it; A.J. Haulcy at the 85th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99 Rnd3 Treydan Stukes
Circle this one: Treydan Stukes at No. 99 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick121 Rnd4 Ted Hurst
Somehow Ted Hurst was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick132 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg in No. 132 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick135 Rnd4 Will Lee III
A tidy bit of business in the 135th pick, where Will Lee III graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick136 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick161 Rnd5 Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in the 161st overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick216 Rnd6 Cole Payton
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 35, with Cole Payton worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick224 Rnd7 Kaelon Black
By-the-book stuff, Kaelon Black at slot 224 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick230 Rnd7 Chase Roberts
Value with a capital V on Chase Roberts in pick 230, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jack Kelly
Jack Kelly at pick No. 237 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick257 Rnd7 Isaiah Jatta
They went early on Isaiah Jatta in pick No. 257, and the value did not follow. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
