FutureF
The Packers reached for Presley and never recovered. Grade: F. The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Brennan Presley went at pick 124, a good 192 picks before the board was ready. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Gray at that price is a win they earned.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with quarterback still staring back at them.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot.
Pick54
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
Fair-plus on Marcus Mbow, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
They talked themselves into Hollin Pierce at No. 120, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick124
Rnd4
Brennan Presley
Brennan Presley in the 124th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159
Rnd5
Ethan Downs
Ethan Downs at pick 159 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick188
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
They took Jaylen Reed at par in the 188th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick198
Rnd6
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick226
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
A straight-up fair deal on Alijah Huzzie at pick No. 226, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick237
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
They barely believed it either: Joshua Gray still on the board at the 237th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick250
Rnd7
Phil Mafah
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Phil Mafah in Round 7, Pick 34, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick252
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
No drama and no debate, LaJohntay Wester went about where he belonged in slot 252. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick257
Rnd7
Robbie Ouzts
A real head-scratcher, Robbie Ouzts in No. 257 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
