Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesD+ FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Devonshire: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. M.J. Devonshire tumbling to the Cowboys in pick No. 233 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Rouse lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid McKinstry at the 24th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick87 Rnd3 Blake Corum
Nothing to complain about; Blake Corum went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick151 Rnd5 Walter Rouse
They liked Walter Rouse enough to skip the value, taking him in the 151st overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Fabien Lovett
A reach on Fabien Lovett in Round 5, Pick 38; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick216 Rnd6 Ryan Flournoy
Ryan Flournoy is a better player than pick 216 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick233 Rnd7 M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire at No. 233 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick234 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield at slot 234 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick244 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
Brevyn Spann-Ford in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
