Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers robbed the room for Golday. Final grade: B.

Somebody in slot 92 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Jake Golday, the No. 63 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They will need Iheanachor to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 KC Concepcion
In slot 27 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at pick No. 58 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jake Golday
They barely believed it either: Jake Golday still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick127 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford at the 127th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick133 Rnd4 Chris McClellan
Chris McClellan in pick 133 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138 Rnd4 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at Round 4, Pick 38 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick171 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
Value with a capital V on Ted Hurst in the 171st overall pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
