Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Seahawks, and a B to prove it. There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Seahawks never got to the one that mattered most.
They banked enough surplus on McCoy to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Johnson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
The back end got a real overhaul.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In the 32nd overall pick they get a sticky cover corner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick64
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter slid further than he should have, and pick 64 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick96
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
They liked Emmett Johnson enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 32. The roster fit checks out.
