FutureA
Nobody dealt better than the Cardinals this weekend: A-. Whoever sat across the table from the Cardinals should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
The Carson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, running back and other spots. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In the end it comes back to Chop Robinson, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brian Thomas Jr.. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick35
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
They let Cooper DeJean come to them and pounced at the 35th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick38
Rnd2
Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey in slot 38 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick66
Rnd3
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at No. 66 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick71
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
A tidy little value on Christian Haynes in pick No. 71, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 3, Pick 27 on Caelen Carson with quarterback, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick104
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
They took Zak Zinter at par in pick 104, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick106
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in slot 106 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
