Draft Grade — Cardinals

FutureA+
The Cardinals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. Hard to follow the map here. The Cardinals bypassed quarterback, running back and other spots to take Khyree Jackson at the 104th overall pick, a spot they had covered.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Jackson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They are betting Braswell proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Brian Thomas Jr. at the 27th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick35
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
They went early on Chris Braswell in Round 2, Pick 3, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick66
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at pick No. 66, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick71
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in pick 71, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson at slot 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick104
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Khyree Jackson at cornerback with quarterback, running back and other spots open.
