Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureA
Grand theft in the 215th overall pick: the Raiders steal Gordon II and grade out a A-. You could see the war room lean forward. Ollie Gordon II at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Adding Adonai Mitchell by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In No. 14 they get a workhorse for the backfield, outstanding value to boot.
Pick37
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
A tidy bit of business in pick 37, where Luther Burden III graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick68
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
A quiet steal in pick No. 68: Demetrius Knight Jr. for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick80
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 80th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick108
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Nice patience on Zy Alexander, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 6. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick143
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
A clean, defensible pick in slot 143 with a little surplus value in Malachi Moore. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick180
Rnd6
Chase Lundt
Value with a capital V on Chase Lundt in the 180th overall pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick189
Rnd6
CJ West
A reasonable price with a little left over, CJ West in the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick215
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Taking Ollie Gordon II in pick 215 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick222
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
A premium they did not need to pay, Isaac TeSlaa a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
