Nobody dealt better than the Seahawks this weekend: B. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Devin Leary at the 233rd overall pick is 57 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Seahawks clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
JC Latham
In pick No. 16 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In pick 20 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick129
Rnd4
Brennan Jackson
Brennan Jackson at Round 4, Pick 29 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick151
Rnd5
Justin Rogers
Justin Rogers at the 151st pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick194
Rnd6
Erick All
The board had cheaper options than Erick All at No. 194, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Pick233
Rnd7
Devin Leary
Devin Leary in slot 233 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
