Grand theft in Round 6, Pick 5: the Rams steal Hopper and grade out a B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Rams watched Ty'Ron Hopper slide 23 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They are betting Mitchell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a press-man option on the boundary, reach and all.
Pick51
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
No edge and no loss on Jackson Powers-Johnson in slot 51; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick83
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
A quiet steal in the 83rd overall pick: Johnny Wilson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Fair-plus on Tykee Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick153
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
They took Javion Cohen at par in the 153rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in No. 154 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick180
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 180 is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick191
Rnd6
Isaiah Davis
Isaiah Davis at pick 191 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick212
Rnd6
Tarheeb Still
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tarheeb Still at pick No. 212. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick217
Rnd6
Christian Jones
A slide stopped in the 217th pick, with Christian Jones worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick218
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
Isaiah Williams slid further than he should have, and the 218th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
