Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Jets did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Reed. The King pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In pick 7 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Harold Fannin Jr. at No. 42, and it noticed. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick73 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Kobe King
Kobe King in pick No. 110 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick145 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
A straight-up fair deal on O'Donnell Fortune at slot 145, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
They paid up for Jonah Monheim at Round 5, Pick 24 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick186 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 186th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the 207th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
