FutureA
The Giants won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-. Whoever sat across the table from the Giants should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
They banked enough surplus on Fuaga to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Alexander lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Adding Courtland Sutton by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in the 14th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick38
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick47
Rnd2
Taliese Fuaga
Taliese Fuaga in Round 2, Pick 15 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick73
Rnd3
Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at pick No. 73 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick78
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They paid up for Zak Zinter at the Round 3 slot when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick106
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
They did well to land Braelon Allen in the 106th pick, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick133
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at slot 133 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick143
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
A real head-scratcher, Jack Nelson in pick 143 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick184
Rnd6
Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall at pick No. 184 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick235
Rnd7
Benjamin Yurosek
Benjamin Yurosek in Round 7, Pick 15 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
