Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Patriots fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Patriots spent the Round 3 slot on Oluwafemi Oladejo, a name the board had a full 47 spots lower.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Bech steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
In pick No. 32 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick50 Rnd2 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at slot 50 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick69 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
A reach on Ozzy Trapilo in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick81 Rnd3 Jack Bech
The board had Jack Bech higher than pick 81, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick96 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
They talked themselves into Oluwafemi Oladejo at the 96th overall pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jackson Slater. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick171 Rnd5 Connor Colby
They went early on Connor Colby in pick 171, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jason Marshall Jr.
They let Jason Marshall Jr. come to them and pounced at Round 7, Pick 4. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick238 Rnd7 Moliki Matavao
A big swing on Moliki Matavao at slot 238, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
