Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Saints robbed the room for Koziol. Final grade: B-.

Every other box got a look, but cornerback did not. The Saints will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.

Koziol falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Mesidor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In the 8th overall pick they get a downhill hitter at safety. More want than need.
Pick42 Rnd2 Akheem Mesidor
The board had cheaper options than Akheem Mesidor at Round 2, Pick 10, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
No drama and no debate, Zachariah Branch went about where he belonged in the 73rd pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick132 Rnd4 Drew Allar
Drew Allar at slot 132 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick136 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
A straight-up fair deal on DeMonte Capehart at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams slid further than he should have, and pick No. 148 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick170 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
They robbed the room for Tanner Koziol here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick188 Rnd6 Mason Reiger
A reach on Mason Reiger in pick 188; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
