Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureA
The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Klein: B+.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Marlin Klein, the 204th overall pick, roughly 30 picks past where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Adding Terence Steele by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. They will need Hurst to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick24 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In pick No. 24 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
By-the-book stuff, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 39th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane at the 70th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore in pick 107 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
A straight-up fair deal on Tacario Davis at No. 112, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139 Rnd5 Isaiah World
No drama and no debate, Isaiah World went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 1. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Drew Allar. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 147 with a little surplus value in DeMonte Capehart. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick150 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
A reach on Ted Hurst in No. 150; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick204 Rnd6 Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein in Round 6, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick248 Rnd7 Andre Fuller
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Andre Fuller for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
