Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
Larceny in slot 244 lands the Bears a D, Schwesinger and all.

The Bears spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Carson Schwesinger, the No. 132 name on the board, in the 244th pick. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They are betting Jones Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
Nothing to complain about; Abdul Carter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick39 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick41 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon is a better player than slot 41 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick60 Rnd2 Dylan Sampson
They read the board right and Dylan Sampson was the payoff at the 60th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick72 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dylan Fairchild at pick 72. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 7 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 147 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick169 Rnd5 Deontae Lawson
They robbed the room for Deontae Lawson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick197 Rnd6 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in slot 197 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick207 Rnd6 Dorian Strong
Circle this one: Dorian Strong at pick 207 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick233 Rnd7 Roc Taylor
Roc Taylor in No. 233 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick244 Rnd7 Carson Schwesinger
A linebacker of that caliber at the 244th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
