Johnson should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B+. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kaleb Johnson got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at No. 76.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Tuimoloau lower, and that gap is the story.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the 17th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
The board had cheaper options than JT Tuimoloau at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick76
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
A running back of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 12 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
