Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Patriots.

The Patriots went off the board in a big way for Davin Vann, 40 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Winston Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Jaylin Noel
A big swing on Jaylin Noel at pick No. 38, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick69 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
They did well to land Dylan Sampson in No. 69, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick77 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
A reach on Danny Stutsman in the 77th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick106 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
They let Kevin Winston Jr. come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 4. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant in pick 144 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick171 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
The board had cheaper options than Willie Lampkin at No. 171, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick220 Rnd7 Alijah Huzzie
They took Alijah Huzzie at par in the 220th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick238 Rnd7 Davin Vann
They reached into another round for Davin Vann, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
