Draft Grade — Packers
Overall C
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Packers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Dwight McGlothern at the 217th overall pick is 40 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

Wilson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In pick No. 25 they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Guyton at slot 41, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick57 Rnd2 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard at Round 2, Pick 25 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick88 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Steal is underselling it; Payton Wilson at pick 88 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick91 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
A surprising call. With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots still to address, they spent the 91st pick on Tykee Smith, a safety they were not short of.
Pick112 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in No. 112 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick125 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A real head-scratcher, Braelon Allen in the 125th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Cedric Gray in pick 135 leaves quarterback, wide receiver and other spots for later.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
By-the-book stuff, Jawhar Jordan at Round 6, Pick 28 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick217 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dwight McGlothern in the Round 6 slot, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219 Rnd6 Matthew Jones
They talked themselves into Matthew Jones at pick No. 219, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick246 Rnd7 Walter Rouse
A premium they did not need to pay, Walter Rouse a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
