Barnowl1952 DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns kept it disciplined and banked a B. Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Browns will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Reaching for Bisontis left real value on the table behind him.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In No. 24 they get a green-dot type in the middle, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39
Rnd2
Colton Hood
They let Colton Hood come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 7. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick70
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe slipping to slot 70 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick107
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis in the 107th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jude Bowry
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jude Bowry at pick 139. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Logan Jones
Logan Jones at pick No. 144 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147
Rnd5
Kage Casey
Nice patience on Kage Casey, who had no business lasting to the 147th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick204
Rnd6
De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling in Round 6, Pick 25 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Colbie Young
By-the-book stuff, Colbie Young at pick 248 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
