Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB
Larceny in the Round 2 slot lands the Cowboys a B, Hill Jr. and all.

You build a draft on nights like this. Anthony Hill Jr. had no business being available in slot 62, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In pick 12 they get a workhorse for the backfield, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick30 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In the 30th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in the 62nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112 Rnd4 Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss at pick No. 112 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick150 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
The board had Jalen Stroman higher than No. 150, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick177 Rnd5 Bud Clark
They took Bud Clark at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick215 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
By-the-book stuff, J. Michael Sturdivant at slot 215 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick221 Rnd7 PJ Williams
A straight-up fair deal on PJ Williams at Round 7, Pick 5, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick225 Rnd7 Dijon Johnson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dijon Johnson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
