Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: A.

Whoever sat across the table from the Patriots should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Fidone II value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Tytus Howard gives the group a proven body among the projects.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In pick 25 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at the 38th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick58 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They did well to land Alfred Collins in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
Fair-plus on Maxwell Hairston, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick79 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Nice patience on Cameron Williams, who had no business lasting to slot 79. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick81 Rnd3 Jack Bech
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 17, where Jack Bech graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick106 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
The board had Kevin Winston Jr. higher than pick No. 106, and the safety fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jake Majors
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jake Majors at the 144th pick is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick171 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
They took Chase Lundt at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick193 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the 193rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick220 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II slipping to No. 220 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick238 Rnd7 Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson at the 238th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
