FutureA+
Grand theft in Round 7, Pick 4: the Patriots steal Reed and grade out a B+. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaylen Reed, the No. 190 name on the board, stolen at slot 220. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Kendall pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Adding Christian Kirk by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In slot 25 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jaylin Noel
No edge and no loss on Jaylin Noel in the 58th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick69
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant at Round 3, Pick 5 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
A slide stopped in pick 77, with Quinshon Judkins worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick106
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
The board had Kevin Winston Jr. higher than the 106th overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
They went early on Andres Borregales in No. 144, and the value did not follow. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick171
Rnd5
Drew Kendall
Value said wait; Drew Kendall in pick No. 171 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in slot 220 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick238
Rnd7
Cam Horsley
They paid a round early for Cam Horsley in pick 238, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
