Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Commanders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-.

The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

Richardson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Brade pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In slot 2 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Guyton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick40 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
They took Roman Wilson at par in the 40th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Austin Booker
Austin Booker in pick No. 67 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick78 Rnd3 Roger Rosengarten
They talked themselves into Roger Rosengarten at the 78th overall pick, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100 Rnd3 Theo Johnson
No edge and no loss on Theo Johnson in No. 100; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick140 Rnd5 Beau Brade
Value said wait; Beau Brade in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jalyx Hunt
Jalyx Hunt at pick 152 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick222 Rnd7 Decamerion Richardson
You do not let a cornerback like Decamerion Richardson reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 5, where Jalen Coker graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick253 Rnd7 Emani Bailey
A quiet steal in pick 253: Emani Bailey for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
