FutureB
Grand theft in the 244th overall pick: the Falcons steal Reed and grade out a B+. When a board-topper like Jaylen Reed slides to pick No. 244, you do not overthink it, and the Falcons did not.
Every board in the league had Trapilo lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Mike Green
In pick 27 they get a premier pass rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Walter Nolen reach slot 46 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick59
Rnd2
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in the 59th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Darien Porter
They barely believed it either: Darien Porter still on the board at No. 117. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick205
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at Round 6, Pick 27 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in the 244th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
