Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Falcons.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Drew Kendall; the Falcons did not wait, grabbing him 51 spots ahead at slot 242. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Mafah where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Mike Green
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get juice off the edge, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in pick 51 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick58 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
A clean, defensible pick in the 58th pick with a little surplus value in Marcus Mbow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
A straight-up fair deal on Ozzy Trapilo at No. 79, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick118 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at the 118th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick197 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
They did well to land Oronde Gadsden II in pick No. 197, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick218 Rnd7 Ricky White III
By-the-book stuff, Ricky White III at the 218th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236 Rnd7 Phil Mafah
Phil Mafah in pick 236 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick242 Rnd7 Drew Kendall
A big swing on Drew Kendall at the 242nd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
